I recieve a 1.5M wireless 802.11b Meshbox fed internet connection from an external omni aerial mounted on a roof top some 300M away. My aerial is of the square plate type fastened to my barge board, with a wire fed through the slates to a Netgear ME101 in the loft space. Then into my PC's network connection via cat 5.
I would like to mirror this inst in a friends house (same disposition).
As the ME101 isn't available now, does anyone know if I need an AP such as Netgears WG602, or would a considerably cheaper game addapter such as the Netgear WGE111 (detachable ant) do the same job?
We are on a tight budget hence the DIY attempt.

No responce So I bought a Pheenet WAP-011A AP/Bridge for 28 quid from Solwise. Nightmare to get working (that's one for another day). However, now connected, and working fine.
Only downside is there's no sig strength meter in the utill package. Which was handy with the old ME101.
Cheers

Can I post a little off-topic to ask Fellsider about his nightmare experience with the Pheenet APs? I'm using a pair of DWAP-011AG radios from Solwise (I think similar to the WAP-011A, but just dual band 2.4/5.8GHz) to create a 3.5km point-to-point link and having real trouble understanding what some of the options and numbers on the web interface really mean. I'd be grateful if you could spare some time to see if you can help me with my issues. Cheers!
