i am running the buffalo 54g kit over a 2 mile distance to 2 clients and have no trouble with connections as i am using onmi(16dbi) and high gain(24dbi) antennas i like the buffalo kit and i do get 54mbs over this distance but it will drop off to anything down to 1mbs i think this is a setting in the hardware that it only uses what it needs as when downloading at the remote sites the mbs will increase.

The buffalo gear is 54g but if u have any equipment connecting using 802.11b everyone will run at 11b standard even if they have 11g cards.
