I recently installed an Actiontec GT701wg DSL modem.
Behind that I have a Linksys WRT54G wireless
router w/4 port bridge. On my LAN I have 4
wired systems and 2 wireless systems connected to
the router all obtaining their IP's from it.
All systems access the internet fine. The router
obtains an IP address from the DSL modem
(192.168.0.3) which differs from the subnet it offers
to it's children and sets itself up as a
gateway for them (192.168.1.1) The router uses the
DSL modem as it's gateway (192.168.0.1)
The problem herein lies that each can talk to
each other and each system can access the net
but each system cannot have their servers accessed
from the net. (if you follow). 3 of the
systems run full servers (email, https, ftp, telnet,
etc)
I have spent hours trying combinations of port
forwarding so that requests to these services are
routed properly.
I believe the split subnets to be a factor
though I did experiement using a wireless system to
use the modem as it's access point. The
server on it were still not world readable.
The makers of each device are unwilling to help.
Anyone here both willing and capable to offer
practical advice?
