I have installed a Belkin 54G WiFi network card into a Toshiba Laptop running XP.
This card is identical (make/model; software) to one that I had previously on a laptop that was recently stolen.

With the prior card, I could access several network points, including public library and my favorite cyber cafes. With the current laptop, I can access the network at the library but NOT the cyber cafes. I can see the networks, but cannot make a connection.

Belkin had me uninstall; reinstall. Then they directed me to a patch at PC Hell (SP2 Connectivity Fix). Neither of these things corrected the problem. The only other issue I could possibly imagine might be interfering is that this laptop was originally configured to run a VPN. But being I'm not a techie, the directory protocols and IP configurations are beyond me.

Belkin has washed their hands since the card works (i.e. at least from some locations). They say you need to go back to Microsoft to correct the problem. Any ideas how to fix?

Thanks, DB
