Kensington has a Wi-Fi Finder that is the size of a credit card what it does is find a Wireless Hot Spot it can be attached to your key chain, you just push the botton on the Wi-Fi Finder when the green lights all look green its a signal that you are in 'Hot Spot'

www.wlana.org

www.intel.com/products/mobiletechnology/hotspots (Look for mobile technology hotspot finder)

www.freenetworks.org

I hope these are also useful sites for you.
Also, surf the web for key words such as Wi-Fi, free WLAN, Wireless Hotspots...

I use a very informative program called NetStumbler. Do a search for it.
It is a simple program to run and it signals when it finds a spot and gives all the info you need.

Thank you all for the useful suggestions. Although the question related to finding useful hotspot locators online, some of your suggestions opened my mind to hardware that locate hotspot signals. > Oliver

There is also a company called The HotSpot Haven!

It is an online resource for finding wi-fi hotspots in an interactive way. You can also rate and review the quality of the wireless services. It is a new company that just launched this directory 2 weeks ago.

They will have International search interface complteed soon and will have close to 5000 locations listed in about a month they said..It is a very cool directory unlike the rest of the pack.

Hi,

If you want to run a good professional or for free hotspot AmazingPorts provide a free of charge software that allow you to charge for or give access away for free. It also manages QoS and other important aspects of WiFi networking for example you might want to give away simple slow access for free - but charge for more broad band and higher QoS.

The solution easily installs on any standard PC with two network adapters

Please feel free to visit www.amazingports.com also www.amazingports.com/web60/en/faq.jsp

Regards,
Sankalp (AmazingPorts Team)
