Blogs Now Launched For Readers And Inviting Candidate BloggersTo have your blog here is by invitation only and have to receive our approval, that said, anyone can apply after registering as a member first. Generally, we look for experience and knowledge in blogging and the subject area need to be somewhat related to the wireless industry and markets and / or Computing and Internet in general. Members filling in the application using our contact form here should include their nickname so we know who they are to approve or reject.
In addition to the above, members should include a short C.V. or Résumé and current sites involved in. Please read the TOS and rules as well as the advantages before applying, that way you know where you stand.
We treat our approved bloggers as freelance Staff Writers and there are a lot of benefits involved, just look at people writing for large technology sites, almost everyone of them has managed to end up either being quoted or wrote for major national publications (New York Times, USA Today, BBC...). We'll have a section on the forums for staff only so we can discuss any issues you may have or just brain storm ideas. If you have anything to say or a question to ask, send an email to editor @ this site or fill in the form above.
I have managed to install the gallery, so bloggers (optional) can upload at least their photo which can then be included in their blog and will also be posted next to articles they write and in the RSS feed...
There is now a better profile function (once we finish tweaking it), members can fill in their interests, CV / Resume or work experience, this is particularly beneficial to bloggers as they don't have to fill in who they are or what they do in their articles and the Occupation section is automatically imported as their brief profile under any article they write, hence avoiding to include who they are or linking to their site over and over again. The "extended profile" section is accessed directly from any article they write.
Most features are only seen when users are logged in now, avatar photos on forum threads for example. The extended profile is meant to be public where members can write about themselves, who they are and what they do, but a lot of it is hidden to un-logged users.
I have to give credit to Florian Schiessl from http://www.ifs-net.de for providing the base code for the Blog, Gallery and Profile for Postnuke (Zikula) modules, though we had to work for days to change more than half what he wrote and add a lot of features, nonetheless he's a star for saving us time for writing the whole thing from scratch, so danke, sind Sie ein Stern Florian, hope I did not insult him there, I mean to say thank you, you are a star in German. If you see anything wrong or missing, I appreciate your comments (need to be logged in)
PS: Most of the site's sections have a 30 or 60 minutes cache system and only updates after that time,
annoying but necessary at busy times!
Long live Open Source !
Enjoy!
