I have just set up a Lexmark 3500-4500 printer
with integral wifi print server and got it running
on my wifi network OK. But it is driving
me mad because as soon as I switch on the
printer I lose my internet link.
The sypmtoms are weird, in that I can switch on
the printer and get it on the wifi network but
as soon as I do that I can only, for a
while, access my www home page and usually, for
a while, access any other site that I have
visited during the time the printer was switched
off. Soon after that I lose all internet
access and cannot see why this is so.
Have been into the router management and tried
various changes to the settings but nothing seems
to work.
Anyone got any ideas on this daft problem? I
went wifi printing for ease of use but as things
are at the moment I should have stuck with
cables....
Finally, the fault is the same on both my
notebooks (don't have a desktop) - one on Win XP
and the other on Vista - both do the same
so I imagine it must be the router?

Later - the very helpful D-Link people provided me
with the answer, so the problem has gone away,
I am pleased to say.
All that was needed was to reconfigure the LAN
items (2 notebooks and the printer) with specific
IP addresses and 1st and 2nd DNS gate IP....
Easy after you are told exactly what the problem
is.....
