Hi everyone, hope this is the right place to
post this.
Well, I'm not a complete newbie to the whole
wireless thing however I am having some trouble
setting up a D-Link 635 router on my girlfriends
home computer set-up. The problem is that the
router was bought as a Christmas present by her
brother, and what he didn't know is that a
router with it's own internal modem would've been
much better (at least that's what I think). Anyway,
having only ever set up a Dynamode router (with
an internal modem) before, I read the instructions
for the D-Link and got the impression that the
current modem needed to be plugged into the new
router. However this is where the real problem lies
as the current modem (Speedtouch, the standard
tiscali one) only has two cables, a phone line
and a USB cable, whereas the instructions are
telling me it needs a crossover type cable. I
did however notice that the D-Link had a USB
port on the back however I still couldn't get
anything to work after plugging the modem into that
port. Because of this I presumed that the router
was no good but it seems that the receipts
gone missing so
I'm asking on here to see if there's any
possibility of getting it to work.
If anyone knows of a way I can get the
network up and running with the current equipment
than that would be great. If there's no possible
way of getting it to work as it is than
suggestions on other possibilities i.e extra equipment,
would also be great.
