Just thought I'd do some sharing.. I've not been too bothered about defrag
in recent years - although I should have been with win 98. Recently
though, the damn machine has been really slow on start-up and after
countless other 'clean up' tools it didn't make a difference. Last time I
defragmented was about a year ago, and, even now on NTFS it's made about a
2min difference on start-up and other programs are starting faster too.
Also been
playing UT2004, which had graphic 'stutters' which are now gone. horay.
Well anyway, the guys have been saying for a while that with how many
programs are on the average pc nowadays, coupled with higher downloads than
ever, it makes sense to do it more frequently.
What I was going to ask though, is what program can I use apart from the
built-in windows defrag? Windows xp defrag is pretty crap I heard, compared
to 3rd party programs. So... any good recommendations?? Thanks in advance.
