I just recently purchsed a no-name-brand laptop only

the Atheros Drivers that came with the laptop.,
however no joy...
When running the Atheros dianostics I get the

Hi -
Having the same problem. It was workign then I
shipped my laptop to the US so it wasn't turned
on for over a month.
When I run the test - radio not turned of...
it shoudl be easy.
I've tried configuring it through windows; turning the
radio off, rebooting, turning it on. No joy.
And through the Atheros client utility the 'Enable
Radio' option is disabled.
Argh!

Smile Gents, your days of worries are over. The
problem is a simple one to fix. I have recently
also purchased (rather, was given the laptop with
my cellphone/mobile contract) a laptop with model #
LE1D. Suddenly, one day, the Wi-fi light (little
blue think, bottom right corner of the LT) Stopped
flashing. I tried for days, and I was convinced
that it had to do with that Wi-Fi button. So
I was starting all sorts of services on the
thing and pressing the button to invoke some sort
of response! no
luck! I must mention that I plug my laptop into
my TV often to watch DVD's, and to switch
between the views, instead of going via display
properties, which is long, tedious, and a pain in
the @%#, I would use the FUNCTION shortcut key
(Located bottom left corner of the keyboard) By
pushing FN and F3, I could switch displays. I
also noted that FN & F4 will do a hardware
disable of the Wi-Fi card! Nothing on Gods green
Earth will make that work again, other than
pushing FN & F4 again. I must have pushed it
accidentally at some point, cos that is how I
got it working again, after about 2 days of
being off my own network! So
yeah, if you guys are still having this problem,
as I see the post is pretty old, let me know
if this helps!
G'luck

I have the exact same problem now: Atheron
AR5005G radio turned off, for no aparent reason.
Had the laptop in service, after 3 weeks got it
back, wireless worked for another 2 weeks and
that was it. Pressed FN & f4 - no results.
Tried other "combinations" - nothing... does anyone
has an ideea what can this be coming from?

Hi All,
I just had the same problem, but found the
solution, On my laptop it was the FN and F1
key that sorted the problem, looks as though
different suppliers use different keys, look for the
wireless symbol.
hope this helps

I have an Acer Travelmate 2310. There is a
wireless button on the front of the laptop. It's
usually amber, and I didn't realize that it wasn't
when I was troubleshooting and trying to connect
and getting frustrated and about to kick the darned
thing ... It's the button/light in the center
right front of the computer. Hope this helps
someone else, so they don't have to wonder why
the HELP menu tells you to "enable/disable the
radio", but doesn't tell you how to do that.
