Hi
I am trying to get two computers, one laptop and one desktop both running
Win XP Pro with wireless Netgear network cards to communicate with a DLink
G504T router with DHCP enabled. The IP addresses the router is giving to
the cards seems to be way off. Instead of 192.168.1.x I am getting
169.254.x.y. Can anyone explain to me what is going on and what I need to
do to fix it.
Thanks

Hi,
try disabling the DHCP on the router.
and on the computers disable automatically obtain IP settings.
manually input the IP address starting from 192.168.1.2(subnet
:255.255.255.0 & gateway: 192.168.1.1) since the router default IP is
192.168.1.1.
and if you want DHCP server on your router to give IP address to computers
then check for starting IP and ending IP under DHCP server on your
router
