access point bridging

i have a linksys wireless-b access point and i wanna connect to my friends wireless router. but the access point needs a hub or switch and i want to connect it directly to my computer

may i know first what is the distance between the access point the router please?
if it is in between 50 to 60 feet then the access point can easily communicate with the wireless router..

what we need to do is to change some settings in the access point...

just type in the default ip address of linksys access point in the internet explorer address bar...
you will see a intereface for it
in that just select the repeater mode( place the mac address if necessary) for it and your access point will communicate with the router....
