Thread: check freeloaders on network

hking - 7/7/05 at 04:58

Hi, I have a wifi network. Is there anyway to check if other people are piggybacking on my network. My laptop wifi connection used to work fine. Last week the connection became very sporadic. Now it's back to normal but the laptop is only connecting at 5.5mbps when it used to be 11mbps. I may be a little paranoid. But I'd just like to make sure. I've setup a WEP encryption but I've heard it's easily broken into.
Any comments please.

i assume that you're running all the standard protective applications?Adaware, firewall, antivirus etc.If you are try using "Netstumbler".Amongst other things it looks for spurious wireless points and intrusions
