I got a pc running windows xp that receive an internet connection from a modem by its ethernet card.
The pc has an extra wireless card and i want to know how i can share the connection via the wireless card. So i could get a internet connection on my laptop...

ok i was able to set up a ad hoc connection on the wireless card (struggling because the pc has windows and dutch and i dont read dutch..)
i was able to connect to a network with my laptop, good signal, wep encrypted all good!
but no internet, it seems like its not being shared...what iam doing wrong?

Maybe the desktop, machine or access point you are connecting to is blocking you or internet connection sharing is not enabled on it. It could also be the firewall set up to block internet sharing. It may also be that machine is either not connected to the internet or does not have an internet connection. See, it could few things...

We have established that your wi-fi is OK seen you connect to the network OK, the problem is you are blocked somehow from using the internet or there is no internet on the other side!

If you have access to the machine that have an internet line, try to setup Internet connection sharing properly, as you need to set it up on the server and client, winxp has a good guide.
Also, give it few seconds to scan and trigger the dialup on the other end, reboot if you have a fresh setup, do a connection repair if possible...

Sorry, I can see there is an internet connection on the other machine from the earlier post quoted above. I suggest just to set up Internet connection sharing and see what happens, you'll get there at the end. There are a lot of similar problems on these forums, just search above, I am sure there are other interesting reads and suggestions.
