Hi everyone.
I'm new to this, so I'm really hoping you can
help me.
I have a Siemens gigaset router provided to me
by Tiscali.
Being a little paranoid about going wireless, when
I finally figuered out how to get into my router
admin settings on IP 192.168.1.1 I was really
pleased.
First on my list of recommended security measures
was to turn SSID broadcasting off.
I clicked on the "disable" and I have completely
lost all my internet access.
I briefly managed to reconnect to the router side
again and changed it back to "enable" but this
has made no difference at all. I've tried to
reset my router and nothing happens.
So I uninstalled everything, then tried to reinstall
the router via the CD tiscali had provided me,
and it is now not recognising my WPA code. So
I tried to install a wired version ( I was
deperate to get on e-bay as my auctions were
ending!) and it wouldn't recognise my password.
After 2 lengthly (and expensive) calls to Tiscali,
all the said was that there was a problem with
the exchange and it would last about 24 hours.
I find that a bit difficult to beleive seeing
that I was picking up wireless connections from my
neighbours and my brother-in-law who lives round the
corner (also on tiscali) had no problems either.
Any suggestions on how I can fix this would be
great. Please bear in mind that I'm new to all
this stuff - so what may seem obvious to you
- may not be to me!!
Many thanks in advance
Vicky
