Can somone advise?? - Wanting to set up broadband wireless network in my
home. (2pcs + 2 laptops). At the moment we are with AOL, but it seems to
be so complicated through them. Thier forums are fuil of advice and
problems to do with drivers, routers etc. Just want the simplest way of
setting it all up.
My questions are:
1 - Is aol good choice if u want to wireless network?
2- What is the best (and simplest router and modem i can use for aol)
3-if aol arent the best, can anyone reccomend a good ISP
I hope somone might be able to help.
Many thanks.

Are you using an aol dialup connection or aol broadband using a cable
modem? If you have a broadband cable or dsl connection and your computer
connects to it via an ethernet cable, you should be able to buy any cheap
wireless router (linksys wrt54g) and connect the ethernet cable from the
broadband modem to the internet port on the wireless router, and you should
be good to go.
hope this helps

Thanks for your reply.
Ok.. forgive newbie speak... this is research prior to setting it up.
Prospectively it will be Broadband via phone line (adsl??) so have been
told i will need adsl filters on phone sockets. AOL provide free modem,
but apparently it is USB connected to master pc, so whatever router i get
will have to have ethernet ports AND modem. My queery is which one; I would
love to just plug in a liinksys and go, but AOL recommend particular modem
routers (eg `netgear`), which they will ONLY recommend, and they all
appear to require a great deal of setting up.
So.. can i use linksys with aol broadband.. ?? that is my question i
guess.
Hope i have made some sense, and thanks again.
