pardon a newbie question, but can anyone tell me if you can mix a new install of wi fi with an existing wired network? Can I sorta piggyback the wi fi instead of having to add more data cables..etc...

Guess nobody wants to help newbies...you should have been born knowing everything.
Too bad...actually, I have the very same question. Upsetting that you can't find a FAQ for doing exactly what you are interested in: Converting a home DSL line to wireless inside the house so you can use two or three additional computers. Simple I would think, but I've had no luck finding anything written on the net and I'm not ready to trust the minimum wage kids at Office Max.

The FAQ section is being rebuilt soon and would contain more help.
this link in it may be of general help http://www.wi-fitechnology.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=FAQ&file=index&m yfaq=yes&id_cat=25&categories=Planning+for+your+Wireless+Network&parent_id= 7. This link however is a help tutorial "Setting Up A Wireless Network".

Any questions posted in the FAQ section will be removed, stored and considered when re-designing the new section.

if i am understanding ur question right u have a wired lan running atm and would like to add a wireless lan to run along side it.

i am doing this at the mo i am running a wired land inside my home and running a wireless lan (wlan) over a 1 mile range outside. i am using a airstation 54g access point with built in router with allows me to plug in 4 rj45 cables for my wired land and then for every1 outside they can connect to the wireless system by using antennas.

hope this is of some help to you.

Hi,

I have a Linksys cable DSl router sharring my internet connection between my desktop and my sons pc in his room. I also have a laptop with a wireless card. Can I add a Linksys wireless router to my pc that already has the cable DSL router so I can have both cable lan to my sons pc and wireless to my laptop?
