connected, but not really

Thread: connected, but not really

Everything was working fine, but now....

Task bar icon is OK state and says "connected to X network" (which is mine).
But, when I open IE or Opera or mail programs, they cannot find the connection.
Oddly, ZoneAlarm icon in task bar indicates incoming & outgoing traffic. Also, XP auto-updater pops up to let me know it found updates. These seem to say there is some level of communication with the internet.

Why can the applications not find the internet connection?
Thanks in advance.

Sorry. Couple of other points about my query.
1. The "supply side" is confirmed fine because my wife's PowerBook is connecting fine to the Airport Express I'm trying to connect to.
2. When I first got the Airport Express, and installed its software, everything worked fine right away.
3. My PC connects normally via ethernet to same network.
Thanks.

I am having exactly the same problem.

When I reset my wifi router i can get internet applications to connect for a while then they get slower and eventually lose connection altogether.

Network works fine.

have tried different router, same problem.

I have a wireless internet connection via wireless modem which connects via LAN cable to the WiFi router.

Have disabled Zonealarm - still no go.

Extremelt frustrating - please help.

Cheers

Greg
