Hi
Can you please advise me the best Dongle for my laptop if I want to use the cloud at EG McDonalds. I can use it in the restaurant but not outside.

What is the best Dongle I can get which will give me the best distance. Ideally I do not want a cumbersome aerial / antenna. manufacturers say 100 and farther. I would like to get some feedback here which I can trust.

I currently use windows XP though my machine had Vista when I bought it and I may revert to it soon.
Thanks
Mark

Free WiFi vendors such as McDonalds, configure equipment power levels, in general to provide a service for client seating areas only.

Manufacturers often quote line-of-sight connection figures which fall off dramatically when obstructions such as walls, windows ceilings etc are encountered.

Use the sensitivity and output power figures to find the best dongle for your budget.
Some dongles come with ReSMA connectors, which enable a wide variety of Omni and directional aerials of different sizes to be added.

You also might want to consider other USB devices which have directional panel aerials built in - like the one, which collapse down into something that quite easily fits into a laptop case? http://www.solwise.co.uk/wireless-wlu-805g.htm
