Hi everyone,

I just got a new notebook, sony s4hp. Ans excited as I was one of the first things I wanted to do is get WiFi work. But I've been stuck on that since.

I got a netgear 614v4 router and I just cant get my notebook to connect.
I've reset all WLan settings even disabled wpa etc but still evetyime I try to connect to the wlan my notebook ends upstill being disconnected.

it recongizes the available wlan and everything, but when i try to connect it just says trying to establish a connection for a while an then the windows closes and nothing happens.

Even if i use wpa and enter a wrong password: same procedure, just trying to connect, no message wrong passort or anything.

Notebook (WLan: Intel pro/wireless 200bg) seems not being able to send any data, just reiceive, thats what i figure....

I'd be great if u could help me out a little, cause im pretty much at the end of my options (except returning the damn thing...)

Thanks Yo

Hi,
You have a router and i presume 1 computer connecting via wifi, you may have ip blocking active on the router, this will only let listed ip addresses connect, if it is active look for the ip of the laptop on bottom, and type it in to thr routers setting it looks some ting like 192.168.2.1 but numbers will be diferent.

nope, thats not the problem.

I have dhcp enabled, the computer gets its ip from the router. and this works too, when I connect to the router via ethernet.
or do u mean mac-filtering? i have it disabled.

I have tried it with several routers now, seems to be a problem of the wifi-card or the laptop config...

thanks though

Yes i did mean mac-filtering...{
One thing i have seen is that you click the network and nothing seems to happen and then i have clicked it again and then it has connected give it a try.
