This might be a silly question..

Some wireless nodes perdiodically turn off their radio receivers to save some energy. I read somewhere that when the receiver is turned off, the node can still buffer packets, which doesnt seem quite right to me. I couldn't find anything relevant online, so does anyone have any idea if this is indeed true??
