Hi there!
One of my cards (3Com PCMCIA) works fine but.. I
want to improve signal strength. Now I can do
this by moving the PC around in fact if I
move it through 90degrees I get really good
performance. The only problem is that the PC is
then in a really inconvenient spot.
Does anyone know of any techniques or aerial
arrangements for a PCMCIA card to improve signal
strength?

Try relocating your wireless access point and/or its
aerials and see whether this means you don't have
to move the PC?

| We did a lot of experimenting before we found
the optimal location for our Access Point that gave
us the best overall coverage no matter where we
went in the house. Now we can go just about
anywhere and put the laptop in any position and
get the same high-speed and quality connection. |

Make sure your access point is nice and high -
the higher the better.
I got a 15% improvement in signal strength by
moving my AP from the floor to high up on my
wall ____________________

hi there i am new to the wifi board
and need to ask a few questions
I am looking into getting a
hawking hwu8dd wireless b or g network via a
usb connection. the problem is i live out
in the countr a rural area. i have
high speed at work and wireless via my labtop.
if i modify the dish and use
a satteleite reciever as my dish will my
modded unit pik up a farther
distance hot spot or is it based on
the units 8 decibal strength .
my other option and cheapper is an
outdoor attenna by pacific wireless or some model
gd58-xx 55 dollars by them . whats
with all the different frequency ranges on
them some ar 2,4 5.8 does it
matter the attenna i buy from them .
does my service in canada toronto a
difeerent frequency. or will a 5,8
just reach farther than the 2.4 .
will these attenna boost a 5 mile radius
for my tungsten to work . thanks
and sorry for all the questions. mike |
