I'm trying to install a Linksys wireless G card in a Homebuilt box -- Intel D865GBF board, P4 3.0 Ghz processor, RADEON 9800 XT video card, internal audio and Windows XP Pro. My problem is that this system is currently running a Linksys Wireless b pci card with no problem. I have a Linksys 54g router updated with the latest firmwire. When I install the card, XP will not display a dialog box to install the drivers. When I check device properties, the card is shown as being installed. However, I do not get a link light. I have RMA 2 cards thinking it was a problem with the card, but that apparently is not the problem. Since I can't believe that I would received 2 bad cards in a row. I can remove the 'g' card and install the 'b' card and everything works as normal. I now trying to troubleshoot the problem. I spent 2 hours on the phone with a Linksys tech. who finally told me that I needed to RMA the card.

Any suggestions are welcomed.

Bill James

hi bill,

It is really frustrating thing when everything is being done and still things dont work..

i have few steps as you say u had a linksys b card and now when u put the g card it doesn't even prompt for installation so for this i would recomend you to try to put the g card in a different slot.

If this doesn't work also please try to uninstall the b card and then try to install after deleting oem.inf file related to the linksys and then install the G card.

Also check with the PCI version as it may also have the problem with the latest wireless cards.

Also if you can tell me if it gives any error message and also if you can try installing the PCI card on a different PC and then try.

All the best.
Prashant
