I've been using a MR314 with the latest firmware to run 1 wired PC and 1
laptop with a Linksys wireless card for about a year. I've had the
occasional unexplained outage, but it always came back at some point. I
moved my setup last week and when I reconnected everything my laptop
refuses to even see my network (laptop running WinXP). I think it's the
MR314 because my laptop can see and connect to my neighbor's network. The
laptop is physically sitting next to the MR314, so interference shouldn't
be an issue. I've double checked all the settings to no avail - though XP
should display the available networks independent of ESSIDs, channels, and
encryption as I understand it. Any suggestions on likely problems or
troubleshooting steps?
Thanks,
-Pete

| I'm not too familiar with the MR314, but maybe the first thing that comes
to mind is to double check the setup is enabled to broadcast the SSID? |

| There is no option to broadcast the ESSID or not that I know of in the
setup, simply textbox to set it - if someone else knows of this on the
MR314 please let me know. |

| Does anyone know the significance of the icon in the 'Preferred Networks'
section at the bottom of the 'Wireless Networks' tab under the network
properties on the wireless PC? When I manually 'add' my router's network
SSID under there, it does change from a red x to a little blue circle, but
it still won't show up under the top section 'Available Networks'. I can't
find a description of this icon, but it implies to me that the hardware can
detect the network and it just won't allow me to connect for some reason.
If this is true I suppose it would be a significant piece of
troubleshooting info - though I still wouldn't know how to fix it. |

well,
my friend..
what i suggest you is to delete all the preffered & available networks in
the wireless network tab in winxp..
after that click on the refresh button in the wireless network tab....
and check for the advanced tab in wireless network,it shud be set up to any
available network.....
then try to reset your router if you have a reset button in your
router.....
and then restart the your computer & see whether you find your network in
available or not...

hi buddy
What i can suggest is that try hard resetting the Router by pressing the
Reset button at the back panel of the router somewhere near to antena.
Press and hold the button for 20 second and the test light will come on.
Release the button and the unplug/replug the power cable of the router and
when the test light goes down then try to reconfigure the Router I believe
laptop will pick up the signal

Hi,
I have exactly the same issue with my MR314. I have two different WLAN
NICs and one of them I use no problem at work. I believe it is the router
that is causing the issue, however I have not changed a thing, it just
stopped working one night. I have tried everything I can, including
re-set, re-configure, re-loading the firmware, downgrading the firmware and
then re-loading the lastest back. You name it, I have tried it. I can
only assume from this that the router has developed a fault and my next
option is to buy a new one. If you have any more information or have manged
to get yours to work I would be grateful of any info you have.
Regards
Mac
