WWiSE Consortium for IEEE 802.11n Welcomes New Members; Updates Proposal for Next Phase of Selection Procedure



DALLAS, -/20 April, 2005 - Wi-Fi Technology Forum/- The World Wide Spectrum Efficiency (WWiSE) consortium, a group of companies which has developed a complete proposal for the IEEE 802.11 Task Group N (TGn), announced that several new members have recently joined its ranks. France Telecom, ITRI (Industrial Technology Research Institute of Taiwan), and NTT (Japan) bring to 17 the number of companies supporting the WWiSE proposal, further strengthening the global interest in WWiSE, now from wireless operators and carriers.

METRO Group, Royal Philips and Intermec Demonstrate Generation 2 RFID System



Demonstration believed to be first in the industry

EVERETT, Wash-/8 April, 2005 - Wi-Fi Technology Forum/- The METRO Group, one of the world?s largest retailers, and RFID pioneers Royal Philips Electronics and Intermec Technologies Corp. announced the industry?s first demonstration of an EPC Generation 2 RFID (radio frequency identification) system at METRO Group?s RFID Innovation Center in Neuss, Germany. During the demonstration, Intermec Intellitag? Gen 2 smart labels containing Philips Generation 2 RFID chips were read by an RFID-enabled Intermec IF5 reader.

Aruba Networks Submits Draft For A New Wi-Fi Protocol to The IETF



Introduces the Secure Light Access Point Protocol to the Internet Engineering Task Force

SUNNYVALE, CA-/7 April, 2005 - Wi-Fi Technology Forum/- Aruba Networks announced that Partha Narasimhan, wireless architect at Aruba, has submitted to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) a draft for a new protocol that simplifies the control and management of wireless LAN (WLAN) devices by centralized WLAN controllers. The Internet Draft was co-authored by Dan Harkins at Trapeze Networks.
