Strong Certification Growth Highlights Benefits for Enterprise and Consumer Technology Users

First Modular WLAN Gigabit Switching System to Gain Wi-Fi Certification, HIPAA Compliance

SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA - Aruba Wireless Networks today announced it has received Wi-Fi certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance for its Aruba 5000 wireless LAN switch and Aruba 52 dual-purpose 802.11 a+b access point. Standards groups combine forces for the good of industry.

Sheffield, UK and Geneva, August 16 2003 /The Wi-Fi Technology Forum/— Over 30 of the world’s most important standards making organizations and Forums in information and communication technologies (ICT) have agreed to foster better communication and closer cooperation among themselves.

Delegates at the second ITU 2003 Informal Forum Summit, held in San Francisco 24-25 July, drafted a mission statement that aims to improve interoperability across the multiple communication technologies and industries they represent. Participating forums and Standards Development Organizations (SDOs) will collaborate in an effort to leverage economies to meet the needs of industry — and consumers — better.

GENEVA, Switzerland -- July 8, 2003 -- The 2003 World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-03) finished its nearly month-long session in Geneva, Switzerland on July 4, and took an enormous step forward in promoting unlicensed wireless broadband data services, such as Wi-Fi. At this year's WRC, the delegates harmonized pre-existing, regional allocations of unlicensed spectrum in the 5GHz band, and in the process created a greatly expanded, global allocation of 455 MHz of spectrum for use by unlicensed wireless networking devices.
