AT&T Response To FCC Ruling On The Phone-To-Phone VoIP Petition


(Background: Yesterday the FCC issued its decision on AT&T's petition asking the agency to clarify the rules on phone-to-phone VoIP. The following statement may be attributed to Jim Cicconi, AT&T general counsel.)

April 23, 2004 /Wi-Fi Technology News/- Some 18 months ago, AT&T asked the FCC to confirm that IP telephony remains free of bloated local company access charges. During those many months, the industry and the public were given repeated public assurances that this Commission would protect new investment in technologies, and would especially resist applying legacy regulatory regimes to Internet telephony.

Alcatel signs agreement with wireless broadband Leader Navini Networks


Paris, April 23, 2004 /Wi-Fi Technology News/- Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA) announced an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) agreement with Navini Networks, a U.S. leading provider of next-generation wireless broadband technology. New broadband service will distribute music directly to audio equipment


April 22, 2004 /Wi-Fi Technology News/- On February 1, 2004 the 8 companies (Kenwood Corp., Sharp Corp., Sony Corp., Pioneer Corp., Onkyo Corp., D&M Holdings Inc., Victor Company of Japan, Ltd. (JVC), and Yamaha Corp.) agreed on a joint investment to establish Any Music Inc. The new company will establish a broadband music service platform that will distribute music directly to compatible audio equipment. Any Music service is due to start on May 20, 2004.
