REDMOND and SEATTLE, Wash. -- Sept. 25, 2003 -- Microsoft Corp. and Tully's Coffee Corp. today announced plans to launch kiosks equipped with Windows Mobile (TM) -based Pocket PCs to educate Seattle customers about Tully's new Wi-Fi service on the Cometa Hotspot network while enjoying Tully's coffee. The kiosks are scheduled to be available in selected Tully's stores in mid-November.

TI's new 802.11a/b/g Solution Already Designed into Cell Phones Being Introduced in 2nd Half 2004
DALLAS (Sept. 17, 2003) - A new low power, compact 802.11a/b/g solution designed for mobile, battery powered devices such as cell phones and PDAs was introduced today by Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN). The mobile market is moving to 802.11g to improve battery life since the high-throughput connection shortens transmit and receive times. This equates to 3x better battery utilization over use of 802.11b in the same device. Dual-band 802.11a/g networking is also becoming increasingly sought after for the mobile market for voice over WLAN (VoWLAN) applications since 802.11a offers increased user density to allow voice and data applications. TI's TNETW1230 is already designed into several cell phones and PDAs including Motorola's Wi-Fi/cellular dual-system phone. (see:

The start-up company is the pioneer in the realtime-adaptation of mobile multimedia content ranging from images and animation, to audio and video thus ensuring that the end user can receive media rich content in a format fitting the specifications of his device. The funding amounts to five million dollars in total and is provided by a pool of investors consisting of Siemens Mobile Acceleration, Apax Partners, Comverse, and Optibase.

Sheffield, UK and Munich Germany, September 1 2003 /Wi-Fi Technology News/- The first commercial release of the Siemens IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), IMS@vantage was used in a limited user pilot with TeliaSonera Finland. The pilot platform integration was done by the Siemens Information and Communication Mobile Group (Siemens mobile). The pilot platform is based on standards published by the 3G Partnership Project (3GPP) and offers the operators an infrastructure for a wide spread of applications being developed by the companies themselves or their partners.
