This is killing me! Recently got 2Meg broadband
with plusnet. Initially got a Dlink wireless
router (int modem) for the apartment. Downloading
from sites was fine and got very good speeds
(upwards of 100). However, when trying to use
limewire and other p2ps, also bit torrents and
DC++, the router firewall seemed to be a problem.
All port forwarding / firewall rules were
corectly set up, believe me on this one ive
tried every setting on the damn router, upnp was
enabled. When the firewall was not set up,
limewire would display firewall detected icon and
would not connect, and bit torrents would not
connect. However when ports were setup corectly
limewire would connect and there would be no
firewall detected, also bittorrents would conect, but
all speeds were rubish, never rising above 10kbs
and on average less than 2kbs. I thought the
problem might be the router, so I exchanged routers
for a netgear DGB111G, and the problem persists
in exactly the same manner.
Ive read so many forum postings all saying the
same thing about setting up port forwarding corectly
and switching off windows firewall. Tried it all
believe me, WHAT CAN I DO??!! Please
help......
