Hi there,

I've been struggling with this for some time. Perhaps somebody can help. I have a wireless router upstairs and a BEFW11S4 access point downstairs. The reason for this is the router upstairs doesn't cover the downstairs and has a very weak signal.

I have trouble getting my laptop to connect to the WAP when I'm downstairs. It seems like it always finds the weak signal from upstairs. The instant wireless access utility will ~sometimes~ see the WAP, sometimes it doesn't at all. Even when it does connect through the WAP it bounces back to the upstairs router after a few seconds.

I have the router and WAP using different SSIDs, 1 and 6. The WAP is connected via a CAT5 cable to the upstairs router and the cable checks out fine. I can access both config screens without a problem. My laptop has a Linksys wireless PCMCIA card with their software Win2000.

I recently upgraded all the firmware and that didn't help. Linksys support is completely useless. They told me it was impossible to connect the WAP to my router via a wire. I pointed them to the user guide but they still denied it. Unbelievable.
