My boss wants me to be able to basically
relay between two routers. The intended topology
is this:
--
One room has a wireless router and is attached
to the internal network of that room.
The second router is outside of that room, attached
to a machine.
--
My problem is that I can connect wireless with
the laptop to either router, but cannot have them
talking to each other. I'm SURE there's something
I'm missing, a step or a fundamental theory...
My thought is that one router can have the other
router as its gateway, and then it should be
able to talk back and forth (pinging should bring
SOMETHING, at least).
The intended use is to be able to print from
inside the room to the wirelessly connected printer
outside the room.
Anyone know how I can fix this? If you can
help, I would GREATLY appreciate it. (not to sound
desperate...)
what it sounds like you are looking to do is
use the router not connected to the internet as
an access point in order to expand the network.
this is not an impossible task. if you have the
brands and models of the routers it would be a
lot easier to direct you. in most cases you'll
need 3rd party firmware but depending on the
hardware you may just need to reconfigure.
