Product Description

Last night, while I lay thinking here,
Some Whatifs crawled inside my ear
And pranced and partied all night long
And sang their same old Whatif song:
Whatif I flunk that test?
Whatif green hair grows on my chest?
Whatif nobody likes me?
Whatif a bolt of lightning strikes me? . . .

Here in the attic of Shel Silverstein you will find Backward Bill, Sour Face Ann, the Meehoo With an Exactlywatt, and the Polar Bear in the Frigidaire. You will talk with the Broiled Face, and find out what happens when someone steals your knees, you get caught by the Quick-Digesting Gink, a mountain snores, and they’ve put a brassiere on the camel.

With 12 never-before-published poems, here is a special edition of this beloved poetry collection, from the creator of Where the Sidewalk ends and Falling Up.

Users Product Reviews:

Product Review Summary: Super Shel

We are on our second generation of Shel Silverstein. We love his work. Have purchased numerous copies to be given as presents. Our children have memorized many poems as we have. And now we are reading this special book to our grandson. What a wonderful book.

Product Review Summary: My second intro to Silverstein

This was the second book I ever read, back when I was in the fourth grade, of Shel Silverstein's. Where the Sidewalk Ends 30th Anniversary Edition: Poems and Drawings was the first one of his that I read, and I enjoyed A Light in the Attic, but not quite as much as Where the Sidewalk Ends. Both are good books and are excellent additions to any bookshelf, whether for adults or children.

Product Review Summary: A Light in the Attic

I have used this book in an elementary classroom for years and these poems are very loved by children. They are full of humor and insight. This Christmas I bought the book for my sister's granddaughter and she carried the book around with her all day.
