Product Description
Scott Kelby, author of the groundbreaking bestseller âThe Digital Photography Book, Vol. 1â is back with an entirely new book that picks up right where Vol. 1 left off. Itâs more of that âAh haâso thatâs how they do it,â straight-to-the-point, skip the techno jargon; packed with stuff you can really use today, that made Vol. 1 the worldâs bestselling book on digital photography.
In Volume 2, Scott adds entirely new chapters packed with Plain English tips on using flash, shooting close up photography, travel photography, shooting people, and even how to build a studio from scratch, where he demystifies the process so anyone can start taking pro-quality portraits today! Plus, he's got full chapters on his most requested topics, including loads of tips for landscape photographers, wedding photographers, and there's an entire chapter devoted to sharing some of the pro's secrets for making your photos look more professional, no matter what you're shooting.
This book truly has a brilliant premise, and hereâs how Scott describes it: âIf you and I were out on a shoot, and you asked me, âWhen I use my flash, the background behind the person Iâm shooting turns black. How do I fix that?â I wouldnât give you a lecture on flash ratios, or start a discussion on flash synchronization and rear curtain sync. Iâd just say âLower your shutter speed to 1/60 of a second. That should do itâ Well, thatâs what this book is all about: you and I out shooting where I answer questions, give you advice, and share the secrets Iâve learned just like I would with a friendâwithout all the technical explanations and techie photo speak.â
Each page covers a single concept on how to make your photography better. Every time you turn the page, youâll learn another pro setting, tool, or trick to transform your work from snapshots into gallery prints. If youâre tired of taking shots that look âokay,â and if youâre tired of looking in photography magazines and thinking, âWhy donât my shots look like that?â then this is the book for you.
This isnât a book of theoryâfull of confusing jargon and detailed concepts. This is a book on which button to push, which setting to use, and when to use it. With nearly another 200 of the most closely guarded photographic âtricks of the trade,â this book gets you shooting dramatically better-looking, sharper, more colorful, more professional-looking photos every time.

Product Review Summary: Nice Follow-Up to Kelby's Best-Seller Although not specific to any particular camera model (except for discussions of Nikon and Canon flash -- and Kelby is famously an (almost) Nikon-only shooter), this book of tips gives you a lot of useful information that will help you shoot better pictures with your digital camera. Like the first volume, it provides an overview of techniques, and if you want more specific tips for your particular cameras, you can turn to one of the guidebooks written for individual cameras, such as Thom Hogan's and David Busch's photo guides. Kelby's Digital Photography Book series are a good complement to these, and are filled with his light-hearted touch that many seem to appreciate.
Product Review Summary: A++ Reading These books are a must if you want to learn how to shoot like a pro. Scott Kelby teaches you everything and keeps it simple so you don't get overwhelmed with all the new skills you're going to learn.
Product Review Summary: Good for beginners ... I bought Volume 1 & 2, and as mentioned before by other people there are some errors in this book. In page 82 it says "...seeing a shot where the chin is cropped off makes for a very uncomfortable composition.", but then on pages 189 & 206 he just does that. Also, on page 153 he says "If you want to improve your travel photos, here is a simple trick: add more people to your shots. ... nothing conveys the character and soul of a city more than its people ..." but, in Volume 1 page 161 he adds in a foot note "WHAT NOT TO SHOOT ... Crowd shots. They're just about useless ... Shoot an empty street first thing in the morning, or shoot two people together, but skip the crowds." Finally, A LOT OF PROPAGANDA in this book.
Product Review Summary: FANTASTIC BOOK! Everything you need to know right here on these pages. Scott Kelby talkes to you like you're a friend and makes the process of learning (or relearning in my case) fun and adventurous. Buy the three he has and you won't regret it. Great refrences and great online tutorials.
Product Review Summary: digital photography book 2 very informative on ways to take different photos- scott kelby is funny and informative i like that- good book to keep and check little things when taking certain photo's- enjoy
