Product Review Summary: A great story beautifully told

From beginning to end, this story braces the imagination, and takes one to a place and time where faith, honor, and courage were central. You just may find yourself admiring and beginning to love some of the knights and damsels you're reading about. When I finished the book and put it on the shelf, it was a lot like saying good-bye to a friend.

What makes the book even better for a modern is that Mr. Matthews' edition has rendered it extremely readable, while still keeping the ancient flavor that helps put aside for a moment the outlook of the present century. And Ms. Ferguson's excellent drawings of various scenes, interspersed throughout, are further delights that help the mind paint its own pictures along the way.

It is said that Arthur's story is known throughout the world. That must be in part because the story is great; and this edition tells it very well.

Product Review Summary: The Essential Arthurian Work

It you're going to read any Arthurian works this is the one to go with.I found this translation very easy to read and quite enjoyable. I've read everything Arthurian from Monmouth to Layamon to The Mabinogion and I always say that even though it's not the oldest of the Arthur Cycle, it is still the most important. Grail lore,adventure,romance,decapitation,-what more could you want in a fifteenth century masterpiece? Forget about Chaucer and that other overrated guy Tennyson. Malory puts them both to shame! The only other book that I would put on the same level is T.H.White's The Once and Future King. I would be happy for you to read my review of that one.

Product Review Summary: Le Morte Darthur

Helen Cooper offers a new translation of the MS Winchester -- this is NOT Vinaver's text. The chapters include numbering from the Caxton text -- very useful.

Product Review Summary: Great edition, very well made book, very pretty!

Skipping the book review, you can read it yourself for that... the book, this edition is very very well made. The book has a great cover design with and beautiful dust jacket. She's beautiful without the dust jacket as well... a really nice binding too. The book to buy.

Product Review Summary: Great book, timeless story.

Book was shipped quickly and was in excellent condition. Exactly as it was promoted to be.
