Product Review Summary: Does not work with docking stations I purchased this to switch monitor, keyboard and mouse between a desktop and a laptop with a docking station. It did not recognize the mouse and keyboard when hooked to docking station and worked only when connected directly to the laptop. Hence I had to returned it.
Product Review Summary: Great product I recently purchased this little switch box so I could use my Xbox 360 and Home PC on the same monitor. And let me tell you, it works GREAT! I have not had one problem with it at all. and it even comes with 2 extra VGA to VGA cables to help hook up your computer/monitors! This is a bargain at only 20$ and I would highly recommend it.
Product Review Summary: great product I just opened the box and hooked this unit up. It will be used between my old pc and one furnished by my employer to use at home but with restrictions as what I can download ect. It was very easy to install, needs no outside power cord, and works great. The only drawback is I have a wireless keyboard and mouse and these cannot work with it because there is an additional purple plug-in that the box does not have. If anyone knows of a way to use this keyboard and mouse with the Trendnet please let me know. For now I plugged in a USB keyboard and mouse and I guess I will get used to the new keyboard. So far, it works great and I can leave my work computer on and switch to my own pc at the click of a button!! This comes in handy since my own unit has my printer software on it and the new one does not. The price was very affordable and it even comes with the cables.
Product Review Summary: Works great--if you remember this one thing! This is a solid, very reasonably-priced KVM. I've used mine for a year now and have had no trouble with it---EXCEPT for one particular quirk, which I suspect is common to KVMs:
When you switch from one computer to the other, you must be sure NOT to move your mouse, or press any keyboard keys, until the KVM's light stops flashing (indicating a successful connection).
If you forget, and you move your mouse or press a key BEFORE the light stops flashing, your mouse and/or keyboard may stop responding. This usually requires you to turn your computer off and back on without shutting down the operating system---something you don't usually want to do. (If this happens to you, and you're using Windows, be sure to run Checkdisk after the computer restarts to fix any file errors that may have occurred.)
As long as you observe this simple rule, you should have no problems with this product. (I suspect that most of the bad reviews here are from people who didn't realize this.)
Product Review Summary: Works well enough, but it gets confused... it works well if you have a simple configuration, however when I installed VMware on one of the physical machines, it has now lost its mind. whenever the mouse gets close to the edge of the screen in the virtual machine, it will somehow think I want to switch inputs and it reverts to the other physical machine. Switch back and forth often enough and the kvm itself will get confused and I lose both keyboard and mouse control. I will have to find another kvm...
