Product Review Summary: Wireless N "N for Not" This will not see the N wireless AP but will detect the G networks, called D-link and they just said it was a defect, after reading a few articles in the groups I wasn't the only one with this problem, some said will not work with XP SP3 and you should downgrade to SP2 ?????
Doesn't make sense!!
Product Review Summary: Great Speed; Poor Range In the last week, I have gone through two of these items and have been very disappointed with the range of them. My Linksys router, Linksys wireless repeater, and aged WEP-encryption only adapter card were all getting old and needed to be upgraded. So, I purchased everything in the Xtreme N family only to receive this latest disappointment. With D-Link's DIR-655 router and this DWA-652 notebook adapter, I was expecting to be able to get the full range without the use of the repeater. However, from 50-feet away, the signal strength is minimal, and from 80-feet away, there is none! My HP laptop that has an internal Intel Pro Wireless card picks up the signal from 80-feet away that D-Link's own product in the same family-line can't! This is all despite the guarantee of 6x the range if I use the same brand and family of products.
Conclusion:
Don't let those guarantee's fool you. If your range is relatively low (< 50-feet), then you won't be disappointed with the speed this offers. If your distance from your access point is much more than that, go for something else.
Product Review Summary: Fast but conection drops ALOT This card loses network connections CONSTANTLY. I have it paired with a totally compatible D-Link router, all updated drivers, etc. No network interference. It drops the wireless connection every few minutes, all the time. I had to switch back to the built-in one in my laptop. THAT works flawlessly albeit slower.
Product Review Summary: D-Link DWA-652 I purchased this notebook adapter in concert with a D-Link wireless N router to replace a D-Link Airplus Xxtreme G adapter and Linksys wireless G router, hoping for increased range. It was easy to install, but the wireless N upgrade failed to make any noticeable increase in range.
Product Review Summary: Locks up or slows down PC I even bought the DWA-652 for my PC and I have had more issues with this slowing down or freezing my PC. These issues may be do to my XP service pack 3 configuration, but really that is not acceptable. It should not matter if I have service pack 2 or 3. It should just work, and Yes I do have the right to have the most current service pack on my PC, Security is very important I install programs and software on many computer networks so I need the maximum security for my computer. This product is not ready for primetime.
