Users Product Reviews:

Product Review Summary: Great camera!

Great little camera! Good picture quality and easy to configure. I like that you can configure the video quality (useful based on what kind of connection you will be viewing it from). I found software to view it on my Motorola Droid running Android (software is called "IP Camera Viewer") and great software to run on my computer to detect people in a defined area and notify me by email (called "Vitamin D"). Overall it makes a very inexpensive surveillance solution.

Product Review Summary: Works fine for a cheap cam.

Pros: Good for indoors and in environments with good illumination.
Cons: Software that comes with it ...SUCKSSSSS!!! Use Vitamin D ... runs in Mac & PC

Product Review Summary: Does not work with 64 bit machines period.

So I got this for my Windows Home Server thinking the D-ViewCam software would be great. However heres the kicker. Even though I was able to install this on my home server I can't view it from any 64 bit machine!!!! The view / confiure software only supports 32 bit and crashes on 64. I tried uninstalling the software on windows 7(x64) and it just locks up! Time for a system recovery.

I can't believe that they won't support RUNNING on 64 bit. Come on you can make a 32 bit app that runs. The majority of machines are now coming with 64 bit to support 4gb... Don't buy this product or ANY D-ViewCam's!

Product Review Summary: very useful

Cam was a little tricky hooking up wireless, so that I could access the cam from the web, and not have to leave computer on. Call support a couple of time very helpful. I use it mostly checking on home. It also fun to talk with Girlfriend on cell and seeing her.

Product Review Summary: nice camera for the price, but some setbacks

This camera may or may not be right for you - depending on how you want to access the camera. It has a lot of useful features, but it comes with a lot of "buts".

Pros: 1. the camera was easy to set up w/in the home network. you can easily access it from any other device connected to the same router.
2. you can access it from the internet - as long as the port you opened for the camera doesn't get blocked. (my company has port blocking - so I can not see the camera at work - which sucks.)
3. the ftp function works - so you can upload pictures to an ftp server (I upload to my website's server) and view the pictures that way.
4. the motion detection works - and it will record, however, since the email does not work with smtp servers that require a secure connection - then it won't send you a message that the motion was activated. In D-viewcam there is no FTP option - which would be nice - since the ftp does work.

cons: 1. you can not access the camera from Safari in the iphone. For whatever reason Steve Jobs doesn't allow java on Safari on the iphone (Safari on the mac has no problem accessing the camera's live feed) and this means that you can not access the live-view of your camera - unless you buy an app. I'm trying to see if I can come up with a solution (w/o buying an app). If anyone knows how to code this - please let me know.
2. if you have email that uses a secure connection - you can not email the pictures to yourself.
3. the camera does have to be plugged in to work - so you don't have total freedom as to where you locate it.

The camera was under $100 - so no complain about the price. I haven't tried the ddns - so I can't comment on that. I'm still trying to see if can work around the iphone issue w/o buying an app - if I do then i would probably give it 4*s...

good luck with your security camera needs.
