Product Review Summary: Bad !! Bad !! and ...etc. The worst router i have ever used. Simply i have to power it off once or twice a day to get good signal AND NET CONNECTION !!
for no reason the wireless connection keeps cutting from time to time !
If there was a zero star i would have sellected it. i had USrobotics and i think i will used it again till i find proper N router.
Product Review Summary: One of the WORST N routers I have ever seen Before you consider my review inaccurate, please understand that I have been dealing with computers and computer accessories since the age of 2, so I do know a little bit about them. Now, I bought this router on sale and, honestly, you get what you pay for. What I liked from the description was that it was small, easy to set up with the disk, and had a great range. The only thing true in that was it's small size. The setup disk was only good for the router's manual, because that's the only thing on it that was useful. When I tried to use the disk setup, it failed every time. I then called customer service, which was great (the only thing that really was), and I finally got it set up. I initially started using it with my PSP (did not have a laptop at the time) and it seemed to be doing ok, though I would lose the signal a lot (thought it was the PSP). When I got the laptop, I would lose the wireless signal constantly, no matter how close I got to it. I then thought it was the wireless receiver in my laptop and my PSP because they are both wireless G, but when I tried my dad's laptop with an N receiver, the same thing happened to it. We replaced it with a Netgear RANGEMAX DUAL BAND WIRELESS-N GIGABIT ROUTER WNDR3700 and have not encountered a single problem. Unlike the Buffalo, the Netgear's setup disk actually helped to set the router up. But as I said before, if you are looking for a lousy router that is small and comes with good customer service, you have found the router for you. Otherwise buy the Netgear, it's worth the money!
Product Review Summary: range is somewhat disappointing but overall okay router I bought this one primarily for its range and speed it advertised. I had a netgear gateway G attached to the desktop in the room and had a media player and an xbox attached to the tv in the living room. i had a problem with the signal strenghth of the media player(Wester digital)which was getting only 2 or 3 bars in the signal.(maximum strength is 4 bars) When it has a 2 bars i had a problem accessing movie files in the desktop(home network), but when it reaches a 3 bar, it was fine. So I decided to buy this N-technology router in order to increase my signal strength to the maximum. however, after i connected everything properly, i was only able to to get 3 bars and nver goes to 4 bars. So when i called the customer service, the rep told me that signal strength or the range is not better with N. it is supposed to be better with speed. so i was kind of disappointed that it could not get the maximum signal strength but it stays in 3 bars and does not flunctuate. so i had to be okay with it. as far as the speed goes, I play xbox soccer game(PES 2010) online and did not notice any diffence in speed. but I'm sure it improved a bit but not as much as I can recognize. as for the setup, it was easy and done in a breeze. I had installed it without the CD. the manual says it could. so i dnon't understand why some people had a problem with the setup. and customer service is quick to answer the call and they're there 24/7.
Product Review Summary: From feature-rich to problem-rich I purchased this router after, I thought, carefully considering the options. I didn't actually need wireless-n yet, but I didn't want to buy a new router for a while.
The product is feature rich and I especially liked that it is implemented on the open linux platform.
However, once I got it home the troubles began. The range was nowhere near what I was led to expect. I tried a number of different configurations suggested by buffalo documentation and the user forums but I was in the end disappointed with the range. It does not reach all corners of my house.
Much worse, none of my wireless devices could keep a connection for very long, 20 mins at most. It turned out the problem was a feature, enabled by default, that searches for the wireless channel with the least interference and switches to it automatically. New wireless devices support this and can follow the channel change, but older ones do not. This should be off by default, would have saved me hours.
Once that was fixed by searching the buffalo tech forums ([...]) I thought my problems would be over, however they were not. This device, and possible all the high end buffalo wireless routers, have some bug that prevents them from sustaining high network traffic for more than a few minutes. My device simply shuts off the wireless network completely for up to a minute and then turns it back on again.
What does this mean? Large file transfers (like backups to a NAS), streaming media (video, music), even updating my music libray on a NAS, will fail. This essentially makes the device useless. I didn't get a wireless-n router to support infrequent facebook status updates, I want a high bandwidth router that can support a networked home environment.
I tried to get some answers from Buffalo but none were forthcoming. I returned this device and do not recommend anyone purchase it until the problems are fixed. Check this thread to see my report and that of other users:

Product Review Summary: A little more than what you pay for I just received this router yesterday. I took a big chance because i did not know the brand. I alway hear about Linksys, D-link, Netgear, Belkin, and it's real easy to compare amongst those, but Buffalo isn't that bad. First of all, it has so many features to play with that the average user might not like if all they are looking for is just plug-n-play. This router can actually help you set up your network as if you were going to run a small business and other people would need to have limited connectivity to the internet. It's a little hard to set up the router at first. I ran into a couple of gliches but it went through after all and when i was setting my wife's laptop, it literally just took me 15 secs to do it.
I am not using a wireless-N receiver in my laptops, therefore i can honestly say i'm not using the most of this router. But for right now, it works for me.
