I have set up an ad-hoc network between by laptop running XP Home and my desktop running ME. The connection works fine except that it reports connection speed at only 11 MBPS. I'm using G adapters in both computers.

I've fiddled around and found the following: On the laptop running XP, I have the two computers in my sys tray like you see with DUN. I can click on it to bring up a status box and from there I can adjust from B to G standard... for some reason it was set to B by default. So I'm assuming I need to do the same thing on the desktop, but ME doesn't show the icon in the system tray and I can't find another way to access the info.

I'm using Microsoft brand adapters for both computers. Each are running Microsoft's Broadband Utility program but there seems to be no way to access what I need from there either.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I can't find anything on Microsoft's website concerning this problem and Bill Gates isn't returning my calls.

Thanks,
Pbro

my friend

what i suggest is to download a software called boingo from boingo.com that's free of cost...
what boingo does is it tries to see the network automatically when your pc boots up...
and yeh set our config. in mixed mode rather than in wireless-b or wireless-g mode...
