I have three desktops and a laptop, all with XP, on my home network. They're connected through a wireless Netgear HR314 router and cards. My cable modem is connected to the router. This setup runs at 54 mps and I've had it since early January. I haven't taken the time to learn a whole lot about it, but I'm greatly besmitten with the wonder of it all.

Everything works fine, except that I've been losing the internet connection, not the network connections, once a week for the last three weeks. Restarting the cable modem doesn't restore the connection. I have to unplug the router, then wait five to ten minutes before plugging it back in.

The sudden appearance and regularity of these disconnects has me concerned. Is there something I can do to stop them, or is there something I may be doing to cause them? Unpluggiing seems like a crude way to reboot the whole network, but I can't find anything on the router that does it any other way. Is that normal? I'll appreciate your comments and advice.

I do not have a fix for you but I can tell you that the same thing happens to my Netgear MR314 Wireless Router. I have to unplug it and plug it back in. My friend has the same router as me and has the same problem. It must be a Netgear bug. Other then that it works great.

Thanks, Mike. That makes me feel much better.

Do you know anything about turbo mode? The manual says our networks can run at 72 mps there, but mine doesn't say how to access it.

I do not know about Turbo Mode but I would think you would have to log in to your Router and turn it on. My MR314 does not have Turbo Mode.

my dear friend

what i suggest is to upgrade the firmware for the router....
but before that try to change the MTU size in router page i.e.192.168.0.1 to 900
this would really help you....

you rather do one more thing..
see for the light status for the all the network cards in your network pc's
and see for which particular pc the light is flashing the most
try to replace that adapter card & see what happens?

i am quite sure that these all solutions will definitely work....
