hi everyone. I very new to wierless techno, so please help. I just got a
packard bell laptop whith onboard wi-fi. My bro has a wierless at his
place. I get the signal when i go there but when i CLICK connect it won't
CONNECT. proberly because it's a secure network connection. PLEASE TELL ME
HOW I GO ABOUT JOINING THE NETWOR. PLEASE HELP!

First of all u have to know the SSID of the connection. Give the same SSID
as ur brother is using. Alos please check any security mode chosen for the
connection like WEP or WPA.
If ur brother is using an Open/Disabled mode, by specifying SSID u can
connect. Otherwise if ur wireless AP or router have any Number of stations
support option please check that also.
your brother probably has an encyption key set up on the network, you can
try getting this from his pc by logging into the routerthrough it, or log
in anyway and change the code, provided he hasnt got it password protected.
the default address to access the router settings is
192.169.1.1/default.htm Dont mess with any settings your not sure of...use
the help file usually in the router setup page to find out what the
terminology means.
you could always give a try and walk around a few neighbourhood to see if
there are any open networks available. just keep searching for a network
every 5 or 10 mins, you could get lucky!
