hi, i'm currently running my desktop pc downstairs in the dining room
hooked up to a cable modem. i've now got a desktop upstairs in a bedroom
and have also got a laptop..... i'm wanting to hook all my machines up for
internet use and file sharing..... but internet will be the main use....
the laptop has got centrino technology. i definately want to go wireless
but wondered if my main desktop downstairs could be hardwired to the router
?..... what hardware wouldi need to acheive this... i've been trawling
through forums and websites for info but i cant get my head around it...
can anyone help ?

Hi,
You can get a wirless router with 802.11g standard and connect it directly
to your cable modem.
All routers usually have 4 port ethernet port for your hardwired
connections as well.
so your main desktop downstairs could be hardwired directly to the router
using ethernet cable.and the other desktop and laptop upstairs can have
wireless connections to the internet.
the hardware you need is
1) Wireless router
2)wireless card for your desktop PC and for your laptop(upstairs) if they
do not have one.
