please don't think this is totally dumb, but I have a USB wireless adapter,
I can find a signal and connect to it, but when I open up explorer it says
page cannot be displayed can someone tell me how I connect to a hotspot,
a setting or something, I am confused because it says I AM connected.

Please check the link below to see the location of hotspots.

first you need to locate the hot spot from the wi-fi hotspots directory
then you can find the details of the service provider and then you need to
register with them to be able to connect to internet from a hotspot.
