Hi all!
We (neighbours) want to use internet and LAN. We live next to eachother (distance between them is less than 80 meters. If we put the router to the center, the distance can be 50 or less.

Questions: Can I make this connection with a range boosted router or with extenders? Can I put somehow the antenna outside? (will the temperature or rain damage this antenna?)
Can I use simple UTP cable between the houses?

Thx.

Without getting too indepth. You could use either.

A reliable Wireless connection will almost certainly require external aerials - with line of sight between host and client aerials. As a means of shareing internet use - fine. File transfers over a wireless LAN will work, however it would be a lot slower than wired.

Ethernet can be used on routes up to around 100M's per run. Much, much faster for file transfers. V secure, cheap, and much easier to install in relation to the equipment required for a reliable wireless connection.

What about a combination of both?
Ethernet to an easily acessed point at your naigbours house, then put an AP on the end to provide a local only (using security) wifi zone.
