Hi everyone. I'm new to networking and am having a problem. My neighbor just got a new computer and asked me how to get both of them on the internet at the same time. I thought it would be easy like getting a splitter for televisions but I found out it's not. Bought a switch first but it didn't work. Took it back and was told I needed a router. So I bought a Belkin wireless G. I did the setup using the setup disk. His new computer recieves the DSL internet signal just fine through the router but the old computer doesn't. I'm using ethernet on both, not wireless. The lights are OK on the router according to the setup disk. Now, If I connect the DSL modem directly to the old computer (not through the router) the old computer works fine on the internet. It seems like the computer can't see the router to recieve the internet signal. The setup disk offers no help. I tried swapping cables, rebooting etc. but no go. I went to control panel/network connections/local area connection/status and it said connected . How can I get the computer to recieve the internet through the router? Thanks a bunch, Collieman

Got it! All I had to do was to download and install a new ethernet adapter driver. When I installed XP I just used the default driver that came with it because it worked. But it didn't work with the router. Now both computers have internet access.
