Telular Announces Network Approval by AT&T Wireless for New Products

Telular Announces Network Approval by AT&T Wireless for New Products

VERNON HILLS, March 23, 2004 /Wi-Fi Technology News/- IL USA-Telular Corporation (Nasdaq: WRLS) Telular Corporation today announced that AT&T Wireless has approved two new products for use on its GSM network. These include Telular's Phonecell? SX5D GSM/GPRS fixed wireless phone and the Phonecell? SX5e GSM/GPRS fixed wireless terminal.

With AT&T Wireless network approval, consumers and businesses can now activate Telular's SX5 GSM products on the AT&T Wireless network to replace wired phone service in the home or office. To obtain network type approval, Telular was required to meet the carrier's stringent requirements for high quality products and service.

"This marks an important milestone for Telular in obtaining major carrier approval for its products as the company moves forward with its wireline replacement initiative in the U.S.," said Ken Millard, chairman, president and CEO of Telular Corporation. "We are seeing interest in wireline replacement gather momentum across the country and are positioning ourselves to offer customers a range of carrier options in adopting fixed wireless."

The Phonecell? SX5D GSM/GPRS fixed wireless phone features high quality voice as well as SMS text messaging and GPRS packet data in an attractive desktop phone with speakerphone capability. The Phonecell? SX5e GSM/GPRS fixed wireless terminal provides voice, analog fax and analog modem capability to existing telephone and data devices over existing home or office wiring, as well as high speed packet data on a serial port.

Both products are designed to allow consumers to take advantage of wireline replacement in the home or office. Consumers can simply disconnect their wired phone service, plug the Telular Phonecell? SX5e GSM/GPRS fixed cellular terminal into any phone jack in the home, and with AT&T Wireless service all existing telephone devices will work seamlessly over the wireless network, including cordless phones and fax machines. The Phonecell? SX5D GSM/GPRS fixed wireless phone provides a portable dial tone that allows consumers to bring AT&T Wireless service into their home or office as a primary or backup line.

"Telular's products are ideal for applications to replace wired phone service," added Millard. "Now that the FCC has mandated wireline-to-wireless number portability, AT&T Wireless can use Telular's products to emulate wired telephone service and offer an economical wireless solution for wireline substitution in the home or office."

Both products are available for immediate delivery. For sales information, please contact a sales representative at 1-800-TELULAR or sales@telular.com
