Students and the faculty collaborate with industry leaders to produce research and prototypes exploring the relevance of mobile media technology to each theme. In its first year, the MMC is exploring the ways that mobile media can improve people's quality of life. At the end of the year, the MMC will publish research reports, demonstrate working prototypes, and host numerous events.
The Mobile Media Consortium is committed to promoting the growth of mobile media by enhancing the visibility of mobile media’s capabilities and companies. Each year the MMC will host meeting events driven by three objectives:
* showcasing the power of mobile media content and technology
* helping MMC partners promote their product and services
* strengthening the network of individuals and companies working with mobile media
In its first year, the MMC plans Mobile Media Events, Consortium Advisory Board Meetings, the Mobile Media Award, and Partner Promotion & Visits.
Mobile Media Events
The "New Media Slam" (December) and "Go Mobile or Go Home!" (April) are events that feature sessions both open to the public and restricted to MMC Industry Partners. These activities provide a high visibility opportunity for white paper publication announcements and prototype unveilings.
Consortium Advisory Board Meetings
Semi-annual advisory board meetings allow consortium members to meet, network, discuss research needs, and provide input and feedback to the MMC Director and faculty.
Partner Promotion and Visits
MMC partners will have the opportunity to schedule special meetings, tours, and host other events at the New Media Institute.
