Bailey Telecom Installs Aruba Wireless Networks' WLAN/Wi-Fi Switching

Bailey Telecom Installs Aruba Wireless Networks' WLAN/Wi-Fi Switching

LONDON, England, ? April 22, 2004 ?/Wi-Fi Technology News/- Aruba Wireless Networks (Aruba) today announced that Bailey Telecom, the UK's leading independent provider of complete communications solutions, has installed its award-winning wireless LAN (WLAN) switching system to provide secure wireless connectivity throughout its new Birmingham office.

Bailey Telecom is a nationwide voice and data service provider in the United Kingdom and a wholly-owned subsidiary of NG Bailey & Company Ltd., one of Europe's leading independent mechanical, electrical and building services contractors with annual revenues in excess of ?350 million.

The facility, called Etna House and opening May 2004, will accommodate the three subsidiary companies of The NG Bailey Organisation: NG Bailey & Co; Bailey Telecom and Bailey Maintenance Services. Initially to be used by Bailey Telecom's mobile sales force, the WLAN will eventually promote flexible hot-desk style working throughout the building for the 150-plus Birmingham-based employees as well as connecting into its other offices in Leeds, London and Stirling.

Bailey Telecom managed the installation with help from Aruba's UK channel partner React Technologies. React supplied Aruba WLAN stackable switches to provide a fully integrated solution allowing access to the network to be managed and controlled centrally. Aruba switches allow the roll-out of secure, centrally-managed wireless access points (APs) at Bailey Telecom's branch offices connecting back to the Birmingham office via secure VPN technology.

"It is clear that wireless networking is going to become an integral part of any modern office environment," said Graham Iliff, marketing and technology director at Bailey Telecom. "The use of a centrally managed WLAN technology allows us to securely promote modern flexible working practices throughout our state of the art building - much to the delight of our frequently mobile staff."

Bailey Telecom manages and implements voice, video and data solutions over both wired and wireless networks for a wide variety of businesses including office, retail, leisure and the financial services sector throughout the UK. It also works with some of the UK's largest fixed and mobile networks.

"We are delighted to announce this installation by Bailey Telecom," said Albert Benhamou, vice president of EMEA for Aruba Wireless Networks. "Bailey Telecom has tremendous expertise in the communications sector, so it's a real 'feather in our cap' to be chosen by a company that lives and breathes engineering excellence."

"Aruba's comprehensive line of secure, centrally-controlled WLAN switching solutions make the deployment of wireless networks a cost effective reality for companies of any size in both greenfield and existing sites," said Jess Thompson-Hughes, managing director, React Technologies. "The Aruba approach to wireless allows us to quickly accelerate discussions with our customers beyond security and onto the return on investment that can be gained from scaleable WLAN solutions as opposed to structured cabling."
