AT&T Teams With Internap To Deliver Multi-Carrier Management Capability
BEDMINSTER, N.J. and ATLANTA -April 28, 2004 /The Wi-Fi Technology Forum/- AT&T announced that it will make the multi-carrier management capability from Internap Network Services Corporation (AMEX: IIP) available to AT&T customers hosting their critical applications in AT&T's global network of 21 Internet Data Centers (IDCs).
Internap's unique performance routing and multi-carrier capability will ensure that AT&T hosting customers continue to receive high levels of redundancy, flexibility and security, even as they adopt multiple Internet Service Provider (ISP) strategies to address business continuity requirements. Today's high-demand, mission-critical applications such as e-commerce, Voice over IP (VoIP), video-conferencing, and streaming audio/video are putting increasing demands on network availability and performance.
"For many customers, adopting a multi-ISP strategy can often pose supplier management and technology challenges, such as ensuring consistent network and application performance and availability across diverse carriers," said Eric Shepcaro, AT&T vice president of emerging services. "Working with Internap, we're able to serve customers as a network integrator and provide a single point of contact to deliver the reliability they have come to expect from our high-performing global IP network, with the additional benefit of automatic fail-over capability to Internap's multi-carrier network."
"This agreement further demonstrates the rapidly growing demand for intelligent IP route control products and services and positions Internap as the industry standard," added Gregory A. Peters, president and chief executive officer at Internap. "Integrating our leading intelligent route optimization technology with the world's largest IP network responds to increasing customer demand for zero downtime."
Internap's managed IP network services will be available from AT&T's IDCs via Internap's extensive network of Private Network Access Points (P-NAPs), which connect directly to multiple Internet backbones in major cities across the U.S. These P-NAPs provide high-speed connectivity and the most direct routing of customer traffic, allowing clients to avoid congestions and bottlenecks associated with traditional Internet traffic management.
