Airpath Offers Providers Free Membership To The Airpath Provider Alliance

Airpath Helps Speed Wireless User Adoption By Giving Inbound-Only Providers Free Membership To The Airpath Provider Alliance, New Service Enables Inbound Roaming While Using Same Log-in ID

WALTHAM, Mass-/June 14, 2004 Wi-Fi Technology News/-Airpath Wireless, Inc. is announcing free membership in the Airpath Provider Alliance (APA) to wireless providers who offer free inbound-only roaming on their hotspots at venues such as restaurants, libraries and coffee shops.

Inbound roaming is defined as allowing end-users to have access at a visited provider's location while continuing to use their existing network username and password.

The wireless service providers who are offering free Wi-Fi access can sign up on-line at https://secure.wiboss.com/roam for free. Once the service provider has signed up they automatically become part of the APA for visitors to their hotspots. This allows customers of other APA wireless providers to log on to the new hotspot or any other hotspot operated by an APA member, without changing providers or setting up a new account. The end user has the same user experience that they are accustomed to, regardless of the hotspot.

"One of our main objectives is simply to expand the use of Wi-Fi," said Todd Myers, CEO of Airpath Wireless. "If we can make it easier for venues to accept roaming users, while also making it easier for roamers to access venues, we know that Wi-Fi adoption will continue to increase. The Airpath Roam offering will expand the APA network for all of our providers, increasing revenue opportunities, while keeping costs low for entrepreneurs and smaller providers."

"Many venue owners don't need or want to capture their own customer base, so they don't need two-way roaming, especially when they want to offer free access. We can facilitate that, simply enabling them to accept roaming users, in a way that is easy for the user. The bonus for these businesses is that roaming users, who are already signed up with another APA service provider, will generate revenue for the visited hotspot provider," added Myers.
